Some of our projects will be a mix of genres and others will have a single focus.

You can expect a welcoming, audience-focused performance at every Square Note show. Expect to see a host/emcee helping you meet each performer, and guiding you through the program. Our biggest goal is to remember that live performance is first and foremost: fun entertainment!

We are trying to re-center the live performance experience on modern audience and artist needs. We know that you have infinite entertainment at your fingertips at all times through technology. That’s why we are focusing our approach on what makes gathering special. Without an audience there’s no show, and artists are sharing something with you personally, not just from afar. We want you to feel that connection. No “sit silently and look at your program” attitudes here.

Whatever you want. Always.

You’ve felt that awkward moment at a symphonic or choral concert, I’m guessing? Guess what: Classical music has developed a strange set of “rules” around concert behavior that doesn’t match Square Note’s vibe. If you like what someone is doing onstage, please let them know! Performers appreciate applause, some might say it’s why we got into this business!

Kids are welcome at our shows. Gabby is a mother of four and her own kids come to these projects.
We know you have your own best judgment on whether they (or you) will be able to enjoy any given show together. Any program that might have kid-unsuitable content will have a note on the project description.

Gabby’s answer: I’ve been using the name Square Note informally for several years as a name for my “hobby” music production work. The name refers to Gregorian chant notation - square notes - which are arguably the foundation of Western music.
I also like that it’s easy to pronounce, and easy to spell.
